FTP Connect Issue - Log?

OPlayer plays almost any file formats in your iDevice, no need to spend several hours to convert your videos.

FTP Connect Issue - Log?

Postby metal450 » Mon May 21, 2012 4:50 pm

Using OPlayer HD for iPad, I'm unable to connect to an FTP server that I can connect to normally with other Windows FTP clients (i.e. Filezilla). I would be able to debug the problem on my own, except that I cannot find how to view the FTP command log in OPlayer to determine where it's failing - the only detail it provides is "Receiving" followed by "Failed to connect," which is obviously not enough information to debug the connectivity issue...

How can I view the FTP commands (preferably in realtime) in OPlayer?

Thanks in advance,
Justin

Addendum: if I login to a VPN that puts me on the same network as the FTP server, I can connect, and get the status "Succeed to list" on the righthand pane...though it never actually lists the files/directories. Again though, logging in from a standard Windows FTP client does not require the VPN - it "just works."

No, but as mentioned what I really need is the simple/standard FTP output, like other FTP clients generate. Then I can debug it on my own.

This is necessary for other reasons as well - I often use the iPad overseas from filtered or weak cellular connections, so with no feedback at all regarding the status of the connection, it's difficult (er, impossible) to know what's going on in the case of frozen connections etc. How can I view the FTP log?

Is there any way to get more detail than just "receiving" and "failed"? I looked really extensively at all the video player options out there, and OPlayer is one of my top two favorites, but FTP functionality is critical for my purposes - without any way to evaluate why it is or is not working, I really can't consider the feature as "there"...

If not, are their any plans to add this in the near future? I'm using OPlayer lite for m evaluation at the moment, wanted to make sure it works as hoped before grabbing the full version. If this is in the works, I'll hold of on another player until I know I can get FTP working with your player...

We really want to help to fix the issue, but the fastest way is to debug lively, add a debug log maybe can fix the issue, but this will cost a lot time, can you tell us your ftp server environment to us? name and version?
anyway, if you can setup an account to us to test it from here, that will be the best way to fix this issue.

Hi, I have the same problem with my ftp server.
I'm using the same settings from my ftp client:
Host: ftp.mysite.com
Port: 21
User: xxxx@aruba.it
Psw: xxxx

Is there something wrong? Do server has something special?
I can't create a user for your test.
Please help me!

Ok, I change the host with "ftp://ftp.mysite.com" but it's the same.
Can you confirm me I can streaming mp3 from my website?
