SMB streaming doesn't work after iOS update

OPlayer plays almost any file formats in your iDevice, no need to spend several hours to convert your videos.

SMB streaming doesn't work after iOS update

Postby Esced » Mon May 23, 2016 6:56 pm

After updating my iPad Pro 9.7 to iOS 9.3.2, SMB streaming no longer works. I get a "Network Error" message when trying to access the share, either manually or through auto detection. Other iPad apps (including other video players) and other computers are able to access the share without a problem except the current version of OPlayer HD. Any ideas?

SMB streaming doesn't work after iOS update

Postby jwr3388 » Fri May 27, 2016 4:17 pm

I am also seeing the same issue after the latest update from Apple on my iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Mini both running OS version 9.3.2. The version on my Mac Mini is El Capitan Version 10.11.5. When I try to connect using the SMB it just states "Network Error". My settings are correct for IP address, user and password. I have other App's from the Apple Store on my iPhone and iPad that still connect fine to the SMB on my Mac and they are FileBrowser by Stratospheric Ltd and Files Connect by Antecea Inc.

Connecting to SMB share on OS X 10.11.5 broken

Adding the two lines

<key>SigningRequired</key>
<false/>
to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.smb.server.plist and restarting the server (or switching SMB sharing off and on again) re-enables connectivity.

Sample:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>DOSCodePage</key>
<string>936</string>
<key>LocalKerberosRealm</key>
<string>92C20</string>
<key>NetBIOSName</key>
<string>gaeainfodeiMac</string>
<key>ServerDescription</key>
<string>gaeainfo的iMac</string>
<key>SigningRequired</key>
<false/>
</dict>
</plist>

Great that there seems to be a solution, but I am lost about editing the property list as required to use it.

I am the computer's administrator, but still lack permission to modify any file within this folder.

Help please?
